A Quest.

I'd quite like to say I'm off with Tim Curry (as he was twenty years ago of course) so seek the Holy Grail. I love Sir Robin's minstrels. Alas, no.

But I do have another quest: I seek an antique edition of Alice in Wonderland. A leather-bound one, possibly dark red, with the title embedded in golden swirly letters. And filled with illustrations, victorian engravings.

I cannot possibly read under a tree and have tea on the meadow if I'm holding a paperback modern edition, can I?? The effect would hardly be the same. U_U

So as soon as I finish with the studies I am determined to find that. If anyone knows a place where I might find such a book don't hesitate to let me know ;)

Books!

I love books, they're my life and have been ever since I can remember. When I was a wee lad, I read an article about a town which was filled to bursting with bookshops. I bullied my Dad into driving me there (it's about 250km from my home town!), but he did, and (as he loves books too) we both spent the first of many happy days there.

A local businessman turned the town into Britain's capital of second-hand bookshops - it's probably the most likely place in the whole country for you to find an old edition of 'AiW'. It's a long way from London, and you know what British public transport is like, but if you have the time and the resources, I really really recommend you visit. Follow the links to Hay-on-Wye:

You are definitely a soul born into the wrong age, dear Gemma. :) I myself love our modern age - and as with everything we love, I value its imperfections as well as its good sides.

PS Tim Curry? Eww. Watch 'Legend' and never feel the same again. :D

Hello. Randomly found you, thought I could assist with your rare book search. The two places i've had the best luck in finding rare, limited edition or out-of-print stuff is through these two vendors:

1. http://www.powells.com/
2. http://www.abebooks.com/

http://bubl.ac.uk/link/r/rarebooks.htm - This link is a compendium of rare book sites)

Hope that helps and good luck! Cheers.
